Taurus recommends the use of a Retention Bracket for Surface Pigtail installations in order to prevent over-torquing of any of the Wellhead Feedthru System components due to excessive movement of the power cable. Just locking the Surface Pigtail to the Mandrel does not prevent torquing of the Mandrel, Lower Connector and ESP Cable. The Retention Bracket can attach to the production tubing, easing the stresses and strains incurred by cable movement on the Mandrel/Surface Pigtail connection, the Wellhead Feedthru Mandrel, and the Lower Connector, effectively extending the field-life of all wellhead and downhole electrical components. Taurus provides a variety of Retention Bracket designs, to accommodate any surface connector model version, attaching to any diameter production tubing, or simply clamping and retaining the surface connector in angled or otherwise cumbersome applications.
